Dario also seems to think he should be the judge over which autocratic states are worthy of getting access to the AI supply chain. He is critical of China for the CCP’s dictatorship, yet he welcomes investment from Arab countries with no democratic leanings.

Sharp analysis on the timeline contradiction. If powerful AI is 1-2years out and transparency legislation takes 3 years, the sequencing seems off. The 4D chess metaphor captures it well, trying to balance safety concerns with Anthropic's market positioning creates this awkward middle ground that satisfies neither side.

Re: Dario Amodei's essay: As if capitalism is some entity outside of our ability to regulate and control it. Why do we need to have a few hard years ahead of us for technology that does not serve the population - only a few billionaires? Capitalism is relentless because we allow it. That may be changing...
